The following Case Studies are a summary of the Rylson Group's recent experience in Asset Management Systems with underground longwall mining operations.

The broad range of skills within the organisation allows the Rylson Group to meet the challenge of providing effective and timely services tailored to suit each client's individual needs in the area of Asset Management.

Case Study One: Anglo Coal formerly Shell Coal - Dartbrook Mine
Configuration and implementation of a CMMS for Shell Coal at their Dartbrook Mine which is 3.5Mtpa longwall operation located in NSW in Australia . This included system configuration and the provision of training on how to use the system. Development of all the equipment management plans and strategies and loading them into the system. Development and establishment of the Work Management system incorporating training the workforce on the use of the system.

Case Study Two: Anglo Coal - Moranbah North
4.5Mtpa longwall operation situated in central Queensland in Australia.
Development of all equipment strategies and maintenance schedules for both underground and surface equipment and infrastructure. Design and implementation of a 'Work Management System'.

Case Study Three: Xstrata - Mount Isa Mines

These sites included a number of longwall operations including Oaky Creek North and Newlands which are 5.5Mtpa and 4.5Mtpa respectively longwall operations.
Training of personnel in the Mincom Information Management System at all Mount Isa Mines Holdings sites. These training courses typically included; Techniques in Maintenance Planning & Scheduling, Work Management, Work Order/Work Request creation, Procedures on the use of the system, etc. Design and implementation of a computerised 'Work Management System'.


Case Study Four: Xstrata Baal Bone Colliery and Rio Tinto - Kestrel
2.5Mtpa Xstrata longwall operation in NSW and Rio Tinto - Kestrel 3.5Mtpa Rio Tinto longwall operation in Queensland, Australia .

Optimisation of equipment strategies and maintenance plan.

Case Study Five: Fiji Sugar Corporation
The Rylson Group has provided, through its Paradigm Shifting company, numerous training courses since 2000. These have been conducted in Suva and Nadi which draw attendees from surrounding islands of Samoa , American Samoa and Tonga .

On-site training courses have been carried out for Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC) and Fiji Natural Waters. Our courses gained 'Grants Claimable' status in March 2000. Ongoing accreditation of our courses and instructors has been extended until July 2007.

Delivery of the 'Fiji Sugar Corporation's Reliability Improvement Program' commenced in May 2003. To date the FSC Reliability Improvement Program has developed and implemented a structured 'Work Management System' at each of the four mills. The program is ongoing and is now focussing on the development of maintenance strategies which will see further improvement in asset reliability.
